I was so excited about the launch of Disney's inspired make-up line. The moment I had the opportunity, I ran right out and purchased some. With each new release of Princess and Villain themed products I end up with more! The pigments are rich, the colors are gorgeous. I even love the packaging.
Ok, so what's the problem?
In the last year, I was diagnosed as a Celiac. The first few months were spent focused on my diet. Several months later, I still wasn't feeling a lot better. I realized that I had to examine other things that could cause a reaction, such as mouthwash, toothpaste and even make-up. It really does make a difference! Even if you don't change out everything, you really need to change out your lipstick. I highly recommend ditching the whole lot and starting from scratch, though. You never know what gluteny substance may stick to your hands and spread to your mouth. Plus, mascara was a biggie for me. All these years I thought I had "allergy eyes" when, in fact, it was the gluten in my mascara! My eyes feel great now!
So what's the "official" word on Beautifully Disney? Well, I wrote to them to ask and this was the response:
We have been directed to tell our Guests that those products may contain Gluten. We do not have the list of chemical ingredients from the manufacturer. Please accept our apology and we hope you continue your fondness for our other Disney products.
So, in other words, we have no idea. I will periodically check back to see if they have any more knowledge in this area. For the time being, I always suggest erring on the side of safety- when in doubt, go without! I still use my Beautifully Disney make-up case and mirror. My daughter is happy to have inherited the rest!
