An imagineer quote:
"The magic is as wide as a smile and as narrow as a wink, loud as laughter and quiet as a tear, tall as a tale and deep as emotion. So strong, it can lift the spirit. So gentle, it can touch the heart. It is the magic that begins the happily ever after."

Gowns Galore: Part Three of a Disney Vow Renewal

The time is here! The moment I have been waiting 16 years for! Time to choose a gown! I knew we would be in the Richmond, VA area one weekend, so I correlated a time to visit the Alfred Angelo Bridal Salon there. Of course, I couldn’t let that be the only stop on my gown journey, so I went to a local place the week before and did my homework.
I am quite short…a whopping 4’11” actually, and ….as Stitch says, “fluffy.” I knew that not any gown would do for my figure. I tried on a few styles and realized that gowns with a dropped waist and slightly full skirt were the most flattering. The princess in me would have loved a true ballgown, and the glamour girl in me loved the mermaid styles. Realistically, I had to find a happy medium so I would not be turning heads for all the wrong reasons.
Walking into an Alfred Angelo boutique is like walking into a fairytale! It is a veritable wonderland of silk, satin, crystals and tulle. Not to mention all the tiaras! One by one, gowns are slipped over your head with the help of your very own dresser. Yes, you feel like royalty.
In my dressing room, my eyes swept over the expanse of white and, I admit, I felt overcome with emotion. I couldn’t wait to try one on. With me, I had my three daughters at the bridal salon. I believe they were just as excited as I was! I walked out in my first dress to very satisfying “ooohs” and “ahhhhs!” It was a beautiful moment and one that I am thrilled to have shared with my girls.
After about five gowns, we had narrowed it down to two. Trying them on again, one stood out. It was decidedly more special than the other. Given my poor history with gowns, it HAD to be special! My oldest daughter said, “Mama, you look like a princess.” We both got a little misty-eyed. It was the ONE.
Now, I am not going to share which gown I purchased. You will just have to wait until October for that (my husband reads this stuff, you know). I will say, though, that it is a part of the Disney Collection. Perfectly fitting…in more ways than one!
